چکیده
Greece exhibits the lowest seafood per capita consumption amongst European Mediterranean countries, and investigation of consumer attitudes to new products would bridge gap among producers consumers by promoting vertical integration supply chain. However, limited information exists about preferences for bivalves in wild particular. The present study aims investigate, first time, consumers’ towards purchase bivalves, more specifically, edible pearl oyster Pinctada imbricata radiata, Greek shellfish market. The pearl oyster, “Pinctada radiate”, is a native species of Persian Gulf area, which has always been attractive for its ability of producing pearl. Thus, studying the gonadal maturation of the pearl oyster has been important for nucleus implantation to pearl production. In this study, samples were taken in winter and spring from Lavan and Kish Islands. The classic histological methods were use...

15 صفحه اولDraft Genome of the Pearl Oyster Pinctada fucata: A Platform for Understanding Bivalve Biology
The study of the pearl oyster Pinctada fucata is key to increasing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in pearl biosynthesis and biology of bivalve molluscs. We sequenced ~1150-Mb genome at ~40-fold coverage using the Roche 454 GS-FLX and Illumina GAIIx sequencers. The sequences were assembled into contigs with N50 = 1.6 kb (total contig assembly reached to 1024 Mb) and scaff...
